If you're going to Russia in winter...



This is something that Noel showed us last week. Apparently it's one of the best diagrams ever made. It illustrates the ill-fated march of Napoleon's army into Russia in 1812.

The cream represents the French forces; notice how their numbers dwindle as they get closer to Moscow. Notice also the temperature (the bottom of the graph). The black line represents the paltry number of troops who returned from the campaign.

Good for us that Hitler didn't spend more time studying this; for if he had, he never would have invaded Russia in winter.
