Poland is an intensely Catholic country; it is unfortunate but it's probably not the worst of its ailments. As dutiful Catholics, Poles tend to shun divorce, gays and abortion. I'm not sure what their solutions for the first two are, but this is the solution for the latter.
It looks like a giant microwave, but it's Moses-in-a-basket meets the 20th Century. It's a heated, insulated and alarmed baby drop-off box. If you've had the misfortune to end up in Ballyjamesduff, you can pop out your sprog in secrecy and put it into the box for the Catholic Church to collect and to adopt it away in total anonymity.
